I want to be able to quote and comment in the same post. Right now if I comment on a quote my comment just becomes part of the quote. That doesn’t make sense to me.

A huge portion of my next three days will be spent within aluminum tubes slicing through the air at hundreds of miles per hour. It will seem to me as if I am sitting still in extremely cramped quarters with a dozen channels of crappy satellite television to keep me occupied once my laptop battery craps out.
Maybe I’ll read.

blip.tv flash capacity is upgraded: http://tinyurl.com/22kpjf
Flash conversions →
On Monday we noted complaints about Flash conversion speed and promised to double our capacity by Friday. Good news: We’re running ahead of schedule. Jared just sent the e-mail that half of the planned upgrade is done a day early. The second half will be coming tomorrow or Saturday. With this upgrade we’ve increased Flash conversion capacity significantly… and there’s more to come.

Social networking changes →
In this new release we’re going to be removing social networking functionality from blip. We’re not doing this because we don’t want to have social networking functionality, but rather because the functionality we have right now is broken and we want to build the right thing from the ground up. Please note that I’m talking about our own internal social networking — not our plug-in to MySpace,...
Mobile and pre-rolls →
Check out this blog post by Heather Green over at Business Week that points out that we’re not big into pre-roll or mobile. It’s true, we’re not. Putting thirty seconds of brand messaging in front of a four minute video is not a good idea. What is a good idea? Having a really short message at the beginning of the video (”This show is made possible by…”) followed by an overlay that invites people...
The paparazzi are discussing. Still camped outside Heath Ledger’s apartment. When will they go away and leave the guy in peace?
@Cinegage we’re excited to be working with adap.tv. We’re really expanding our ad network partnerships.

Notes from the front →
We just finished up the last remaining bugs and rough corners on the new episode page. Allan and Jeff really did a bang-up job on it. They even added a couple new features while they were at it: Things like giving show creators editorial control over comments posted on their videos. You can see some screenshots of the episode page (along with some self-indulgent daily self portraits) in my Flickr...
And… we’re done. 9:46p. Not bad for startup hours.
Our new episode page will be done tonight. Polished and done.

Flash conversion speed →
We’ve noticed a little twittering over the last couple days about wait times for blip Flash conversion. Some people have said that it’s ridiculously fast, but some have complained that it takes a while. We’ve been watching the stats, and for the most part conversions should be going through super fast. If your video’s really long, though, it’ll take longer to complete: transcoding time has a...
The new way for private videos →
We’ve offered video privacy settings as a pro account feature for a while now… but the system has been in need of some improvement. Jeff “Young Richard” Lerman has helped our pro account users out by developing a new set of privacy features and refactoring the existing set. In our next release, for the first time, you’ll be able to use a password to lock and unlock your videos. You’ll also be able...
