theeconomist: Nuclear Power? Um, maybe. Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel, is posed with The Simpsons’ Mr Burns as the country plans for some tough decisions on energy. The entire Western world needs to become truly energy independent. It’s a fundamental security issue. If nuclear power is the answer then it’s the answer — it’s better than the alternative of energy blackmail at the hands of Vladimir Putin and OPEC.
