On catching predators.
Today in Things We Wish We’d Written:
“Crime of Shadows”, Mark Bowden’s Vanity Fair piece about the gray areas involved when police go trolling online for sex predators, is excellent.
This is something that has always bothered me.
Completely agree. This was an excellent article. I really dislike the gotcha method they use and I don’t think it’s very effective either. Whenever I watch To Catch A Predator I end up feeling bad for the Predator.
Me too.
You just said you feel bad for child molesters, you’ve got to feel great. 8 Year Olds dude.
Bullshit. I said I feel sorry for people who are entrapped. Read the article before you start throwing out such barbs. Your reaction is exactly the problem here: no one will ever defend someone who goes after “8 Year Olds,” and so they are automatically presumed guilty, ostracized by society, and rejected by all but the bravest criminal defense attorneys.
I feel bad for the disenfranchised in general. Accused child molesters are among the most disenfranchised of all.
