Tumblr caching

It’s obvious that Tumblr is growing extremely quickly.  It should be.  It’s a fantastic product.  Unfortunately, as a result of this growth I’ve noticed dramatic slowdowns — posts take longer to go through, Tumblr blogs take longer to load.

It seems that in response to this Tumblr’s been adding quite a bit of caching.  This is also a good thing.  It’s the correct response.  Unfortunately, though, Tumblr doesnt seem to be expiring cache properly.  It’s been ten five minutes since my last post, and it still isn’t appearing on my blog.

The action of posting should automatically purge my blog’s cache.  Failure to do this will cause users to grow frustrated, and will lead at least some to think that Tumblr’s “broken.”

This is pretty basic stuff, so I’m confident that Marco will figure it out and fix it quickly.  It’s just frustrating in the meantime.

Update: As soon as I posted this, my tumblelog’s cache was purged.  Sweet.
