His reason for not wanting to vote for Obama is simple: he doesn’t want his taxes to raise. John works extremely hard for his money. He poured himself into his work during his 20s, working 80-hour weeks and forgoing a social life so he could retire early. And, according to John, Obama would take that money away and put it into the hands of people who sit on their couches all day.
Obama wants to take the tax burden away from the middle class and place it on folks making $600,000 or more. I think thats a pretty solid idea, considering the middle class is the backbone of our country and the top 2% of all Americans hold most of the wealth.
Taking the tax burden off the middle class and placing it exclusively on the shoulders of those who earn more than $600,000 is a shitty idea. It’s a shitty idea because it significantly reduces incentives for personal success — incentives that drive our economy forward. The American Dream and all that.
Thankfully, Obama’s tax policy is much better thought out than all that.
