I suspect that the Obama team has come to regard Biden as something of a joke, although this should have been evident before Obama picked him to be VP. So far, it seems like Obama is picking very smart and very serious people to advise him, and if this is the path he’s going to take, then of course Biden won’t have much of a role. The marginalization of Joe Biden is a good thing.
