People giving Google $ that Twitter should get! If Twitterers want more More Followers (more attention, more fame, more pats on the back, more justification for their time tweeting), Twitter is in the best position to help with that… Establish an in-network “promoted tweet” display somehow. Prompt me upon tweeting if I want to pay for more exposure of the tweet.
Indeed. A model consistent with the grain of the service. Applies to Tumblr too.
(ps: we have the social payment mechanism for this in our network ;-) though I am sure there are others too).
